Mayers Fine Food Donates 131 Jersey Shirts to Gordon Heights Football Club
November 4th, 2025
The Gordon Heights Football Club is a vital anchor for youth in the Olongapo area. The team is made up of 74 determined athletes (ages 6 to 19), many of whom come from families where even basic school expenses are a major challenge. For these players, football is more than a sport—it's a path to a better future, a lesson in discipline, and a necessary escape.
One of the club's dedicated coaches is Raymond Sumido. He is an alumnus of the La Rose Noire Foundation scholarship program, having been a scholar from Batch 2 in 2017. He has been coaching football for 11 years. He was inspired to coach because he was also a football player and genuinely enjoys mentoring players like his former self.
The team's dedication is intense. They practice 1-2 days a week for 4 hours each session, totaling 32 hours weekly. Their commitment is clear, despite their worn-out grass field and dirt patch. Due to limited resources, the team has been sharing outdated equipment, and their uniforms were often faded and mismatched.
That struggle changes today, thanks to the immense generosity of Mayers Fine Food. On November 4, 2025, the La Rose Noire Foundation delivered 131 high-quality football jerseys at Gordon College. This donation does more than give the team a professional look; it validates their hard work and tells them, clearly, that their community sees and supports their dedication.
In their new gear, the Gordon Heights Football Club is ready to face the new season, fueled not just by their talent but by the belief a generous partner has placed in them.
